Backyard Campout

Camille was going to take the boys camping at the Carlsbad State Beach because they heard there were walk-in spots open. But when they got there the ranger told them they were full. So in order to keep the peace and not completely disappoint our boys from a camping trip, we did the next best thing. We set up camp in our backyard. We had a fire (don't tell the owners :) ) and roasted marshmellows and set up a tent where Brayden and Logan spent the night. It was a fun night together as a family and we still were able to get the true camping experience by having our clothes and hair smell like campfire smoke as we went to bed. The boys slept in the tent outside and we were able to sleep in our comfortable bed in our room. Now that is camping!!

Brayden's 1st Cake

Brayden came home from church this past Sunday anxious to make a cake. So Camille let him put in all the ingredients that he wanted, with a few suggestions from her. So after it was all said and done this was the final product!! My personal favorite ingredient was the fudge striped cookie crumbs on the top that we baked with the cake. In the end it was an interesting taste! Needless to say I believe we all muscled down a bite and called it good, leaving over half the cake uneaten. We love that Brayden came up with it all on his own and made it happen. Hopefully this is only the beginning of Brayden's cake creations and that with time they will become even more edible...

Visit from the Curtis Crew

Ammon and Nikaela's family came for a visit this past week and we had a blast hanging out with them. Some of the activities we participated in were swimming at our community center pool, going to the beach, enjoying fireworks together on the 4th, going to Pump it Up, riding bikes, going to Poway Lake, surfing, playing softball, frisbee, playing the Wii and just hanging out. Our kids played great together which made it even better for us adults to just enjoy each other. Thanks for the visit you guys. It was a lot of fun!

July 4th

For the 4th we enjoyed a flag raising ceremony, bike parade, and pancake breakfast at our Ward building in the morning. In the afternoon we went and played softball, latter golf, frisbee, and just hung out with some good friends. Then to cool down we hit up our community center pool before the firework show. And of coarse last but not least we enjoyed the fireworks! It was a fun day with friends and family. Happy Independence Day!

Catching Up

Life has sure been busy over here in our family over the last month. Life has a way of increasing in speed as we grow older and our family grows bigger. Therefore it is up to each of us to choose to slow it down. So tonight I am slowing down to post some of our latest adventures. In chronological order.... First we had Brayden and Logan's baseball party at the end of the season. They had a baseball pinata that the kids smashed and afterward Brayden ended up wearing it as a hat. It was a great year of baseball.
Next we went to Brayden's end of the year party at Chuck E' Cheese with his kindergarten class. Both Logan and Brayden were able to do the ticket crazy swirling machine and Connor was able to meet Chuck E' Cheese himself. Pretty exciting stuff all the way around.
Camille had an idea that we would take a walk one late afternoon and all the trash / stuff we would find we would make robots out of it. I was a little skeptical, especially seeing some of the stuff we were finding. But after the boys worked hard on their robots by spray painting them and gluing them together, they turned out GREAT!! Very creative idea and the kids had a lot of fun with it.
Memorial Weekend we decided to stick around San Diego and have a "stay-cation". We went to the Hyatt Mission Bay resort because we had heard some great reviews about it. It was a blast! Our room overlooked the bay and the swimming pools. Our kids loved looking at the view when we were in our room and when we were down in the pool they took advantage of the water slides, jacuzzi, and games they had every day. I participated in a watermelon eating contest and lost. And got sick from so much watermelon so fast. This was a great weekend together as a family.
